How to play Spider Solitaire
Spider Solitaire is the 1-suit version of the classic. Build descending runs from King down to Ace in the same suit to clear them from the board, and remove all eight suits to win.
How to play
Read the layout
Ten tableau columns are dealt across the felt. The top card of each column is face up; the rest are face down. The stock sits in the top-left and holds five extra deals of ten cards.
Build descending runs
On the tableau, place any card on top of a card one rank higher (e.g. a 7 on an 8). In 1-suit Spider every card is a spade, so any descending sequence is legal.
Move groups of cards
You can pick up a card together with every card already stacked in order beneath it and move the whole group onto a valid higher card or into an empty column.
Deal from the stock
Tap the stock to deal one card to every column. The stock is locked until every column has at least one card, so fill empty columns before dealing.
Clear all eight suits
When a full King-to-Ace run forms in a single column it is removed and added to the completed area. Clear all eight runs to win the game.
Tips
- Empty columns are the most powerful resource in Spider. Use them to unstick buried face-down cards rather than parking junk.
- Flip face-down cards as early as possible. Every flipped card opens new sequences.
- Avoid dealing from the stock while you still have useful tableau moves left.
- Look for natural runs already on the board before breaking up a long sequence.
About Spider Solitaire
Spider Solitaire is a free, browser-based version of the classic patience card game Spider, tuned to the friendliest 1-suit ruleset. All 104 cards are spades, so any descending sequence is a legal stack. Your job is to build full King-to-Ace runs in the ten tableau columns and clear all eight runs from the board.
The game is built for relaxed daily play on phone, tablet, or desktop. There are no forced ads in the middle of a game, no sign-up, and no install. Drag or tap to move cards, use undo and hint whenever you want, and chase a faster time on each new deal.
