How to play Dig To Fill
Dig To Fill is a free water physics puzzle. Drag through the sand to carve a channel, then gravity carries the water down it and into the glass. You shape the ground, not the water.
How to play
Drag to dig
Press or touch the sand and drag. Everywhere your finger goes turns into open space. Rock is not diggable, so drag straight over it and nothing happens there.
Plan before you breach
Water starts flowing the moment your channel reaches the pool at the top. Carve the lower part of the route first and break into the pool last, so the water arrives at a finished channel instead of an unfinished one.
Keep it going downhill
Water only falls and spreads sideways. It never climbs. Any dip in your channel becomes a puddle that keeps whatever lands in it, so give every stretch a downward slope.
Collect the stars
Stars are collected when water touches them, not when your finger passes over them. Some sit off the direct route, so you have to send water on a detour and still have enough left for the glass.
Fill the glass
The level ends when the glass hits its target. There is barely more water than the glass holds, so waste is the whole difficulty. Restart is instant and free if a dig goes wrong.
Tips
- Narrow channels waste less than wide ones. A big cavern spreads the water thin and leaves a lot of it clinging to the floor.
- Dig from the bottom up. Break into the pool last, once the rest of the route is ready.
- A flat stretch is a trap. Water pools there and only leaves once it fills to the lip.
- Rock is cover as well as an obstacle. Water sitting on a shelf runs off whichever end you opened.
- For a star off to one side, split the flow with a narrow branch rather than sending everything on the detour.
- If a level looks impossible, count the water. Usually the route is fine and something upstream is holding half of it.
About Dig To Fill
Dig To Fill on 100 Daily Games is a puzzle about causes rather than outcomes. You never touch the water. You dig through sand, and the simulation decides what happens next, which means every level is really a question about what shape the ground needs to be.
The water behaves the way water does. It falls, it pools in anything concave, it splits at a fork and rejoins further down, and it clings to whatever it runs across. It never flows uphill, so a dip you did not mean to leave is a permanent trap rather than a slow leak.
The tension is that digging more gives the water more freedom, and freedom is exactly what you do not want. The best solution is almost never the biggest tunnel; it is the smallest reliable channel that still touches every star. Rock cannot be dug at all, so later levels are about routing around shelves, brackets and staircases rather than through them.
Thirty hand-tuned levels, starting with a single straight channel and ending with boards where the glass needs nearly every drop you started with. Free in your browser on desktop and mobile, no download, and your progress saves automatically.
Frequently asked questions
Can I undo a dig?
No. Digging is permanent for that attempt, which is what makes each drag a real decision. Restart is one tap and costs nothing, so a bad dig is a few seconds lost rather than a dead level.
Why did I not get the star my channel went straight past?
Stars are collected by water, not by your finger. If the channel passed the star but the water all went another way, or only a trickle reached it, it does not count.
Why is my water stuck halfway down?
There is a flat section or a dip in the channel. Water fills it to the brim before anything continues, and whatever is left in it when the level ends is wasted. Give every stretch a downward slope.
Can I dig through the rocks?
No. Only the sand is diggable. You can drag across rock freely, it just has no effect there, which is useful when you need to clear a narrow gap between two of them.
How much water do I get?
Just over one glassful, on every level. That is the whole game: the route has to be efficient, not just connected.
Is Dig To Fill free?
The first 15 levels are free to play in your browser with no download. Levels 16 to 30 are part of 100 Daily Games Plus.
